§ Mr. Chris SmithTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what action has been taken regarding the second paragraph of article 8 of the European Community Council decision dated 12 March 1990, on multilateral surveillance and on the attainment of progressive convergence of economic policies and performance during stage one of economic and monetary union.
§ Mr. MaudeIn accordance with the requirement in article 8 of the Council decision of 12 March 1990 to which the hon. Member refers, I have drawn the results of multilateral surveillance discussions in the Council of 139W Economic and Finance Ministers to the attention of the House when reporting the outcome of Council meetings in answer to questions. The annual economic report has also been deposited in the Library of the House and considered by the Select Committee on European Legislation.
