§ Mr. HeseltineThe intention is to provide equal benefits for widows and widowers in respect of service from 6 April 1988. In addition, women will be able to bring earlier service into account if they wish, either by means of reductions in their future lump sums, or by paying additional contributions. Children's pensions will be payable from 6 April 1988 in respect of the whole of their deceased parents' service.
