§ Mr. Portillo[holding answer 15 November 1991]: The present chairman of the London Docklands development corporation previously served as deputy chairman of London Regional Transport and was the first chairman of the DLR; Sir John Garlick was formerly permanent secretary of the combined Departments of Transport and Environment; and Sir Robert Reid, formerly chairman of British Rail, is an LDDC nominee to the board of DLR Ltd.
§ Ms. RuddockTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he plans to give the same statutory powers to the London regional passengers committee regarding consumer representation on docklands light railway once it has passed to London Docklands development corporation as currently exist under London Transport's management of docklands light railway;
(2) what powers the London Docklands development corporation has to call upon the British transport police; and if he will make a statement;
(3) if he plans to ensure that travelcard and through ticketing arrangements will continue to operate on the docklands light railway once it has been transferred to the London Docklands development corporation; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Portillo[holding answer 15 November 1991]: These are all matters to be resolved as part of the process of transfer of responsibility for the docklands light railway from London Regional Transport to the London Docklands development corporation.
§ Ms. RuddockTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has for the future management of the docklands light railway once the London Docklands development corporation has been wound up; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Portillo[holding answer 15 November 1991]:No date for LDDC's wind-up has been set. But when the issue does arise, in keeping with the Government's overall policies, I would expect the docklands light railway to be operated by the private sector.
