§ Mr. Campbell-SavoursTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment what study he has made of the extent to which the recession in British industry is influencing the decision of employers acting as work experience providers for young people under the YT programme in the county of Cumbria.
Mr. JacksonIn Cumbria, as in other parts of the country, training opportunities are dependent on employers' participation in the training programme. With my support TECs are actively promoting the commitment of employers to investment in training. The Government are committed to ensuring the availability of suitable training for young people under the terms of its YT guarantee.
