HC Deb 15 November 1991 vol 198 cc703-4W
Mr. Viggers

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what action his Department is taking to assist in the resolution of the problems arising from the collapse of balconies at blocks of flats and maisonettes at Rowner, Gosport, which were originally owned by the Ministry of Defence and are now in private or local authority ownership.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

Ministry of Defence officials met Gosport borough council officers on 10 October 1991 to discuss the problem and agreed to attend a further meeting once the final report from the Building Research Establishment had been received. I understand that the council now has the report; my officials will meet council officers in the near future. My Department will of course consider sympathetically any proposals for the future of the properties put forward by the council.
