Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the outstanding number of cases before the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board; and how much compensation has been paid for each year in the last 10 years.

At the end of October 1991, 80,404 cases were outstanding of which 58,645 were awaiting decision by a member of the board or the staff, 10,020 were awaiting the applicant's response to an offer, and 11,739 were awaiting an oral hearing.

Compensation paid in each of the last 10 years was as follows:
