HC Deb 15 November 1991 vol 198 c712W
Dr. David Clark

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what testing is carried out on soft citrus fruits and sweet oranges to assess pesticide residue levels at their port of entry; whether they are refused entry if they contain pesticide residues above the maximum residue levels; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Gummer

Citrus fruit are monitored each year by the Government's working party of pesticide residues. Where residues in such produce are found in excess of maximum residue levels follow-up action is taken with the authorities in the supplying country to ensure that the problem is resolved.
