HC Deb 14 November 1991 vol 198 c652W
Ms. Walley

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what plans he has to provide training and employment for the young unemployed aged 18 to 24 years in Stoke on Trent, North constituency.

Mr. Jackson

Provision of training in the Stoke on Trent, North constituency is a matter for the Staffordshire training and enterprise council to answer. Staffordshire TEC, which covers Stoke on Trent, North, is meeting the Government's requirement of providing an employment training place for people in the Government's guarantee and aim groups who wish to enter ET. The TEC has, in addition, been able to open recruitment to ET for all people who have been unemployed for six months or more. The guarantee group is those aged 18 to 24 who have been unemployed for six months or more but less than 12 months and the aim group is those aged 18 to 49 who have been unemployed for two years or more and those people with disabilities regardless of the length of time of the latter's unemployment.
