To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if the remarks of Admiral Sir Julian Oswald concerning the safety of Royal Navy marine nuclear reactors, the operational condition of Polaris submarines and the dunking, naming and in service dates of the first Trident submarine, reported inThe Times of 29 October 1991, were agreed with his Department before publication.

As is the normal practice, Ministers agreed in advance that Admiral Oswald should give an interview; and Ministers take responsibility for all interviews properly given by senior serving officers and officials.
