To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list his powers with regard to ensuring that district courts have basic standards of amenities for accused, witnesses, solicitors and staff.

Under section 8 of the District Courts (Scotland) Act 1975 it is the responsibility of local authorities to provide suitable and sufficient premises and facilities for the purposes of the district court.
