HC Deb 11 November 1991 vol 198 c408W
Mr. Darling

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will outline the timetable from 1993 onwards for transferring to local authorities the moneys currently spent by the Benefits Agency on residential and nursing care.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

There will be a single formal transfer of resources from the Department of Social Security to local authorities in the 1992 public expenditure survey, covering the years 1993–94, 1994–95, 1995–96. Provision for both social security and local authorities in subsequent surveys will be determined in the light of the declining number of cases with preserved entitlement under social security rules and the rising demand for local authority services, including demographic changes.
