§ Mr. ShersbyTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many new police officers will be recruited during the next 12 months for front-line duties in the fight against crime as a result of the announcement on 9 October 1991; how many will be deployed in the Metropolitan police area; and if he will publish the names of provincial police forces who will be authorised to recruit additional officers giving details of the number in respect of each force.
