HC Deb 07 November 1991 vol 198 c234W
Mr. Harry Barnes

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the latest available figure for homelessness in Northern Ireland; and what was the equivalent figure for 1979.

Mr. Needham

It is not possible to give a figure for the total number of homeless people in Northern Ireland at any specific point in time but I am advised by the chief executive of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive that at 1 November 1991 the number of households living in temporary accommodation secured for them under the homelessness provisions of the Housing (Northern Ireland) Order 1988 was 205.

Comparable figures for 1979 are not available.
