To ask the Secretary of State for Health what information he has on the average current earning levels of general practitioners.

From 1 December 1991, general practitioners are intended to earn, on average, £37,975 per annum. In 1988–89, the latest year for which actual earnings are known, general practitioners earned, on average, £28,979.
