§ Mr. Andrew SmithTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will approve immediately the proposal by Devon county council to reorganise Devonport schools in Plymouth by closing St. Peter's and designating Devonport secondary school as a Church-aided four-form entry comprehensive school for 11 to 16-year-olds.
§ Mr. FallonThe proposals under sections 12 and 13 of the Education Act 1980 to which my hon. Friend refers were published on 5 July and are currently before the Secretary of State. My right hon. Friend aims to reach decisions on such proposals within five months from the date of publication if possible.
