Sir David Steel

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions he has had with the Government of Hong Kong on the recent recommendations of the Electoral Reform Society on electoral reform in Hong Kong.

This report deals with matters which are the responsibility of the Hong Kong Government. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs has not discussed it with them.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, pursuant to his answer of 31 January,Official Report, column 599, regarding his proposed non-involvement relating to the new airport for Hong Kong, if he will give details of any action taken during and subsequent to his visit to the far east.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

As I said in my answer of 31 January at column599, the provision of a rail link to Hong Kong's new airport is a matter for the Hong Kong Government.
