To ask the Secretary of State for Health what response he has made to the notification by the chairman of Doncaster health authority of the intended closure of Conisbrough hospital.

Mr. Dorrell

I understand that Doncaster health authority is due to consult locally on the proposed closure of Conisbrough hospital at the end of May. If after full and public consultation the community health council contests the proposed closure, it will be put to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for a decision.
