§ Mr. Win GriffithsTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales (1) if he will introduce an education support grant specifically for the training of first-aiders in educational establishments;
(2) if any specific financial support is made available by his Department to ensure that the guidance in the Welsh Office circular entitled "Arrangements for First Aid in Schools and Colleges", and advice in other publications is implemented in schools and colleges.
§ Sir Wyn RobertsFirst aid provision in educational establishments forms part of the normal responsibilities of local education authorities. Their expenditure on such provision is supported by revenue support grant and I have no plans for further support by way of education support grant. The 1991–92 local authority revenue support settlement allows for a 7.9 per cent. increase in education spending at an all-Wales level.
