HL Deb 22 May 1991 vol 529 cc15-6WA
Lord Harris of Greenwich

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many police officers and civilian employees of police authorities are now involved in the procedures related to the investigation into, and the confiscation of, the proceeds of drug trafficking, as required by the Drug Trafficking Offences Act 1986.

Earl Ferrers

There are over 1,200 police officers throughout the country engaged solely on drugs work and many other officers and civilian employees with a major commitment to drugs work. Many of these will be involved in the investigation into and confiscation of the proceeds of drug trafficking. but it is not possible to estimate the precise number.
