HC Deb 22 May 1991 vol 191 cc478-9W
Mr. Alex Carlile

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on his policy towards accountancy practice, standards and forms, in relation to corporate bodies.

Mr. Redwood

The Government's policy on company accounting was debated at length during the passage of the Companies Act 1989, which introduced a number of important changes. As regards accounting standards, the Government welcomed and support the new Financial Reporting Council and its subsidiaries, including the Accounting Standards Board.
