To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he has taken to satisfy himself that the provisions of Security Council resolution No. 687 in relation to the Gulf are being adhered to.

[holding answer 20 May 1991]: We and other members of the Security Council keep Iraqi compliance with the council's resolution 687 under close review.

Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs with whom he has discussed proposals to use the US nuclear emergency search team to verify Iraqi compliance with United Nations Security Council resolution 687.

[holding answer 20 May 1991]: Any proposals to use personnel in support of the work of the IAEA and the Special Commission to implement UNSCR 687 are for discussion between the IAEA and the Special Commission and the United States authorities.
