To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list those travel-to-work areas, together with the respective percentages, where 40 per cent. or more of all employees are employed in production.

The most recent estimates of employees in employment in travel-to-work areas are from the September 1989 census of employment. The travel-to-work areas in Scotland with 40 per cent. or more of employees employed in the production industries are listed in the table.

In December 1990, the latest date for which information is available, 23.4 per cent. of Scottish employees in employment were employed in the production industries and 68.3 per cent. in services.
