HC Deb 20 May 1991 vol 191 c385W
18. Mr. Wray

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will make a statement on the latest measures to improve the living standards of families living in poverty in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Jack

Our reformed social security system enables us to concentrate help, over and above maintaining the real value of benefits, wherever it will do most good. That is why, for example, from this October, families with children will have seen the real value of their income-related benefits increase by £0.5 billion a year compared with the position before the reforms.
