§ Mr. RedwoodA number of approaches were made to officials in the early part of last year. While sympathetic to the requirement for a continued programme of regular monitoring of the earth's geomagnetic field, the response given was that the programme was of marginal relevance to the work of the Department and that support could not therefore be provided.
