HC Deb 17 May 1991 vol 191 cc293-4W
Mr. McGrady

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the names of the companies assisted by the Industrial Development Board who located factories in each of the district council areas in Northern Ireland from 1 April 1990 to 31 March 1991.

Mr. Needham

During the period from 1 April 1990 to 31 March 1991 there were nine new inward investment projects for which offers of assistance were accepted. To date two of these projects—Keith Prowse Holdings Ltd. in Belfast city council area and Webtech (NI) Ltd. in Fermanagh district council area—have been made public. The remaining seven projects, which have not yet been announced, will be located in the following district council areas: Antrim, Ballymena, Belfast (two), Magherafelt, Newry and Mourne, and Newtownabbey.

In addition, four other inward investments for which no selective financial assistance was offered were secured. Two of these have been made public—Inland Revenue in the Belfast city council area and Her Majesty's Customs and Excise in the Newry and Mourne district council area. The other two projects, as yet unannounced, will be located in the Antrim and Belfast council areas.

Desmond and Sons Ltd., an existing Northern Ireland company, located a new factory in the Dungannon district council area.
