HC Deb 16 May 1991 vol 191 c219W
Mr. Rowe

To ask the Attorney-General in how many cases involving juveniles the Crown prosecution service decided not to prosecute on grounds of welfare.

The Attorney-General

The Crown prosecution service does not collect statistics separately for cases involving juveniles whether as defendants, victims or witnesses. Such information can be obtained only at disproportionate cost. It is, however, the policy of the Crown prosecution service to take into account, as one but only one of the relevant factors, the welfare of a juvenile, in deciding whether it is appropriate to institute or continue a prosecution.
