Mr. Campbell-Savours

To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether he will order an inquiry into staffing levels and the level of patient care at Goodmayes hospital, Redbridge; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dorrell

No.

Mr. Campbell-Savours

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many break-ins there have been in the case of Goodmayes hospital, Redbridge, over the last 12 months; what security arrangements exist in the hospital to deter breaches of the law; and what lighting arrangements exist in the hospital grounds and property for reasons of security and personal protection.

Mr. Dorrell

Security arrangements at health service premises are the responsibility of local managers. They are best placed to determine the appropriate security arrangements for the protection of both patients and staff in the light of their knowledge of their premises and the degree of access necessary for patients and their visitors.

The hon. Member may wish to write to Miss Delva Patman, chairman of Redbridge district health authority, for details.

Mr. Campbell-Savours

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what use has been made of bank nurses by Goodmayes hospital for night time cover in the last 12 months.

Mr. Campbell-Savours

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what representations he has received about the funding of Goodmayes hospital.

Mr. Dorrell
