HC Deb 15 May 1991 vol 191 c195W
Mr. Bill Michie

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what are his plans to publicise the benefits available for sufferers in relation to musculo-skeletal disorders which are associated with repetitive work.

Mr. Scott

There are no plans to publicise the benefits available to sufferers of musculo-skeletal disorders specifically. However the Department does produce a number of comprehensive leaflets for people who suffer injury at work to inform them of the benefits they are entitled to: FB 28—Sick or Disabled; NI 2—If you have an Industrial Disease; NI 6—Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit; NI 16—Sickness Benefit.

Due to the wide variety of illnesses which can be work-related it would be impractical to produce separate literature for individual diseases, but every effort will be made in future to publicise this type of disorder specifically in benefits leaflets.
