HC Deb 14 May 1991 vol 191 c132W
Mr. Fearn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether he has any plans to withdraw from sale in Britain the sleeping pill triazolam following recent studies on the drug and its side effects.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

The Committee on Safety of Medicines—CSM—has been asked to examine the new evidence in relation to the drug triazolam. This follows the recent publication of results from a study carried out in the United States of America involving higher doses than those recommended for use in the United Kingdom. The Committee on Safety of Medicines will advise the licensing authority if any action is required.
