HC Deb 14 May 1991 vol 191 cc139-40W
Mr. Terry Davis

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what value was put on the Leavesden site by the district valuer before it was sold to Rolls-Royce;

(2) whether his Department was aware that Rolls-Royce intended to close its Leavesden factory and redevelop the site before the factory and its site were sold to Rolls-Royce;

(3) how much was paid by Rolls-Royce for the Leavesden site.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The details of the sale of the Leavesden site to Rolls-Royce are commercial-inconfidence. Although we did not know in advance that Rolls-Royce intended to close its Leavesden factory, we were aware that it wished to rationalise its operations on the site and our arrangements for sale took account of this.
