To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what were the numbers of police attached to the police stations at(a) Retford, (b) Southwell and (c) Newark in (i) 1979 and (ii) 1990.

I understand from the chief constable that no reliable manpower figures for 1979 can be provided because of changes which have occurred to sub-divisional and section boundaries. The figures for December 1990 are given in the table:
