HC Deb 14 May 1991 vol 191 c128W
15. Mr. Colvin

To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether he will add myalgic encephalomyelitis to the list of notifiable diseases; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dorrell

No. The main considerations for making an infectious disease notifiable are that it should be capable of clear diagnosis, and intervention to limit its spread should be feasible. At present, myalgic encephalomyelitis does not meet these criteria.
