HC Deb 14 May 1991 vol 191 cc78-9W
Mr. Madden

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he arranged for instructions to be sent to the United Kingdom post in Islamabad for a visa to be issued to Mr. Liwa Uddin (Ref: TH/14887/89) enabling him to join his wife in the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

The Home Office exercised its right to apply for leave to appeal to the immigration appeal tribunal against the adjudicator's decision to allow Mr. Uddin's appeal. Although initially refused by the chairman of the tribunal on 28 February, this application is being reconsidered by the appellate authorities as the Home Office's amplified grounds of appeal had not been placed before the chairman when he reached his decision.
