§ Mr. Heathcoat-AmoryThe Government support the aim of improving boiler efficiency. However, we have substantial reservations about the draft directive, which, if implemented, would result in wasteful misallocation of resources; several other member states also have reservations and discussions are continuing in the Council. We are pressing for extensive changes to the draft directive, and this line also reflects representations received from several interested parties.
