§ 33. Mr. ArcherTo ask the Minister for the Arts how many Turner paintings are currently hanging in Government offices.
§ Mr. RentonThere are currently four paintings by Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775–1851) hanging in Government offices. They are:
- A Quiet Ruin
- Italian Landscape with Tower
- Waves Breaking against the Wind
- Sunset
These four paintings are on temporary loan from the Tate gallery, London, to the Prime Minister's office, 10 Downing street, 1991. The loan was negotiated in 1989.
