To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what action he is taking to achieve a uniform national energy efficiency rating for houses and other buildings.

My Department continues to encourage and support the National Energy Foundation and MVM Starpoint in their joint project to develop a means by which their two systems for energy efficiency labelling of houses can be compared.

As regards the labelling of other buildings, the Energy Efficiency Office is in touch with developments at the Building Research Establishment and elsewhere and will keep these under review.
