Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish a table in theOfficial Report to show (i) the number of employers or firms in Northern Ireland which employ more than 90 per cent. Protestants, (ii) the distribution of such firms by council area, (iii) the number of such firms in the following bands (a) 1–49, (b) 50–99 and (c) 100-plus employees; and, where such an employer has more than one establishment, where persons are employed treating each such different establishment as a separate entity.

Mr. Needham

From the 1,857 concerns with more than 25 employees which submitted monitoring returns to the Fair Employment Commission on the community composition of the work forces during the 1990 monitoring round, the information is.

1. There are 242 concerns which employ more than 90 per cent. Protestants.

2. The distribution by district council area is:
