To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will make a statement on progress in providing low-cost housing in shire districts.

I refer the hon. Member to the answers given today to the hon. Member for Walsall, North (Mr. Winnick) about the supply of rented housing and to the hon. Member for Bassetlaw (Mr. Ashton) about low-cost housing in rural areas.
