Mr. Doran

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what was the number of(a) deaths and (b) serious injuries in the United Kingdom continental shelf in each year from June 1979 to 1 April.

The number of accidents causing deaths or serious injuries on or near to offshore installations on the United Kingdom continental shelf have in the past been published annually in the report "Development of the Oil and Gas Resources of the United Kingdom". Copies of the report for 1990 are now available in the Library of the House. The information for the calendar years from 1979 to 1990 is as follows:
