HC Deb 08 May 1991 vol 190 c541W
Mr. Dobson

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give separate figures for the spending by the Forestry Commission on(a) television advertising, (b) radio advertising, (c) newspaper advertising and (d) other promotional material in 1979–80 and in each following year; and what are his latest estimates for 1990–91 and budgets for 1991–92.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

The Forestry Commission has not spent any money on television or radio advertising. Its local offices have advertised open days and similar events in local newspapers, but information on the costs involved is not held centrally. The central expenditure by the commission on promotional material for each year from 1987 is given in the table, rounded to the nearest £10,000. Figures for previous years are no longer available.

Year ended 31 March Expenditure £
1987 120,000
1988 160,000
1989 1310,000
1990 240,000
1991 220,000
1992 2260,000
1 The expenditure in 1988–89 included promotional material produced in connection with the Forestry Commission's exhibit at the Glasgow Garden Festival.
2 Budget.
