§ Mr. David ShawTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the current position on the project for cleaning the stonework of the Palace of Westminster; and if he will take action to speed up the project.
§ Mr. YeoThe contract for the current stage of the programme to repair and restore the stonework, which covers the south elevation and the Victoria Tower is scheduled for completion in 1994. Before the stage is completed, plans will be drawn up and agreed with the Houses so that the next phase of the work, covering the internal courtyards, can continue without a break.
