To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what super-computing facilities are available to the Natural Environment Research Council.

The National Centre supercomputers available to the Natural Environment Research Council include the joint research councils' Cray XM P-48 at the Science and Engineering Research Council's Rutherford Appleton laboratory, the Cray XMP-28 at the university of London computer center and the VP1200 at the Manchester computer centre. Time on other supercomputers in the USA and at the Meteorological Office has been obtained on an ad hoc basis for collaborative research projects.
