The Turkish Governmen1 share the longer-term objective of the relief effort to ensure that they can eventually return to their own homes in Iraq in peace and security.

§ Mr. Garel-JonesNo representations have been made to the Turkish Government regarding the supervision of camps in Turkey for Iraqi displaced persons: these camps are at present under the control of the Turkish authorities. They are not administered by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
§ Dr. ThomasTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what information he has on violations of article 1 of the Geneva convention 1951 and the 1967 protocol on refugees by the Turkish Government in their dealings with refugees from Iraqi Kurdistan.
