Mr. Dobson

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what was the total expenditure by the Export Credits Guarantee Department on press and public relations in 1979–80 and in each following year; and what is his estimate for 1990–91 and budget for 1991–92.

The total expenditure of the ECGD on press public relations is shown below:

For the years 1979–80 to 1984–85, the expenditure was recorded by the central office of information as an allied service. The budget for 1991–92 has still to be finalised, and will depend on developments in the privatisation process.
