HC Deb 03 May 1991 vol 190 cc365-6W
Sir Peter Tapsell

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many nurses were employed by the North Lincolnshire health authority in March 1979 and March 1991, respectively.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

Due to the re-organisation of health authority boundaries in 1982, figures for North Lincolnshire health authority prior to this date are not comparable with the figures for later years. The table shows the figures for 1982 and 1989, the earliest and latest years for which comparable information is available.

The reduction in the number of nurses employed is due in part to a mental handicap unit at Caistor being transferred to the management of Yorkshire regional health authority, instead of Trent regional health authority.
