Mr. Dobson

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total expenditure by the Forestry Commission on press and public relations in 1979–80 and in each following year; and what is his estimate for 1990–91 and budget for 1991–92.

The total expenditure by the Forestry Commission on information services, shows, exhibitions and publications, including technical publications, is given in the following table. The figures include staff costs and overheads and have been rounded to the nearest £100,000. A more precise breakdown is not available.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total sum paid out in fees to outside organisations in the furtherance of privatisation by the Forestry Commission in 1979–80 and in each following year; and what is his estimate for 1990–91 and budget for 1991–92.

The total expenditure by the Forestry Commission on advertising, legal fees, estate agent fees, and so on, in connection with the disposals programme is given in the following table. The disposals programme started in July 1981, so no expenditure was incurred in the two years ended 31 March 1981. The figures have been rounded to the nearest £100,000.
