HC Deb 02 May 1991 vol 190 c327W
17. Mr. Kilfedder

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what plans he has to deal with recession in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Needham

The latest economic indicators suggest that any downturn in the economy has had less effect in Northern Ireland than in the United Kingdom as a whole. The Government's economic development strategy for Northern Ireland aims to improve the competitiveness of Northern Ireland industry and thereby promote economic growth and a sustained increase in employment.
