To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his forecast for the cost to the Exchequer in 1991–92 and in a full year of tax relief for private medical insurance premiums for persons aged over 60 years.

The direct revenue cost in respect of tax liabilities for 1991–92 is estimated to be about £60 million.
