§ Dr. MarekTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the Government policy on recognition of relevant trade unions for the purposes of representation and collective bargaining extends to all Government Departments and, with the exception of GCHQ, to agencies and non-departmental public bodies.
§ Mrs. Gillian Shephard[holding answer 26 March 1991]: The Government as employer recognises relevant trade unions where they are representative. The level and extent of recognition is a matter for management discretion. Petrol Tax
