HC Deb 28 March 1991 vol 188 cc508-9W
Mr. Haselhurst

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what forecast of usage was used by British Rail when seeking approval of investment in the Stansted airport rail link; and what was the actual usage during the first week of operation.

Mr. Freeman

My right hon. and learned Friend has no information on the use of the Stansted express rail link in its first week of operation. My hon. Friend may wish to obtain this from British Rail. The rail service has been planned to accommodate the demand for rail travel associated with the capacity of the first phase of Stansted development, that is, about 2,500 rail passengers each way per day.
